McCarthy Honors Residential College Move-in

An all day move-in and settle in experience for McCarthy Honors Residential College residents.

Wednesday, August 16

USC Parent and Family Engagement Move-In Day Parent Reception and Letter Writing

Tutor Campus Center (TCC) Ballroom 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM

USC Parent and Family Engagement welcomes you with light refreshments and the opportunity to write a letter to your student which will be delivered to their residence hall the second week of classes. USC Parent and Family Engagement will provide stationery and a standard envelope. Make sure to bring your student’s new USC address! An RSVP is not required but please arrive no later than 2:30 p.m. as doors will close at 3:00 p.m.

 

Roski School of Art and Design and Iovine and Young Academy New Student Cookout

Watt Hall Lawn 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM

New members of the USC Roski School of Art and Design and the USC Iovine and Young Academy and their families are invited to attend a cookout. Reservations are required.

Here’s the scoop! What better way to take a break from moving than with ice cream! Join the Dean, faculty, staff and current students in Harris Courtyard for an ice cream social! All parents and incoming students are welcome!

 

USC Price Welcome Reception

Lewis Hall (RGL) 308 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

A wine and cheese reception for all parents, students, faculty and staff to kick start the new academic year as well as extend a warm welcome to the newly minted Trojans into the family.

Dean Robert Cutietta invites new USC Thornton parents and their students to kick off the school year with a celebratory toast to our new class of students! This is a great time to take a break on Move-In Day, enjoy some light refreshments, and chat with Dean Cutietta.

 

First in the Family Reception

Tutor Campus Center (TCC) Ballroom 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM

This welcome reception is for parents of *first-generation college students to learn about the college transition, college experience, and to meet other first generation college students and parents. Guests will hear from a diverse panel of faculty, students, and parents and will have the opportunity to ask questions. This event is hosted by the Dornsife Office for Diversity and Strategic Initiatives but is open to all incoming USC first generation college students in all majors. Translators will be available for non-English speaking families. Dinner will be provided. By invitation only. RSVP Required.
* A first-generation college student is defined as a student whose parent(s) have not completed a bachelor’s degree.

Pancake Breakfast

McCarthy Quad 7:30 AM – 8:15 AM

All new students and their parents are invited to attend this welcome breakfast prior to the New Student Convocation ceremony.

 

New Student Convocation & USC Village Grand Opening Celebration

Convocation Alumni Park 8:30 AM – 10:30AM
Grand Opening USC Village 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Your entry into the Trojan family begins with this annual address to all new students. This traditional event features a welcome from the Vice President of Student Affairs, remarks by President C.L. Max Nikias and greetings from each academic dean.

Following Convocation, the Grand Opening of the USC Village will take place. A BBQ luncheon will be served on the Great Lawn beginning at 12:15 p.m.
